Becoming a Teacher

A. What grade level(s) interest me?

I have worked with K-2 grades for the past six years but I would like to work with 3-6 grade to see what truly interests me.

B. What subject area(s) interest me?

I really want to work with Special Education or ESL, but to answer the question I would like to focus on Reading. I choose reading because, being a Paraprofessional, I have worked a lot doing reading groups and I enjoy it.

C. Why do I want to become a teacher?

I really want to become a teacher because I have seen what impact teachers have on students. Either by just caring for them and loving them or by teaching them. Seeing the children have that "Oh yeah" moment where you realize they learned what your teaching them is priceless. I want to be that teacher they remember always.

  1. Your classroom experience really does give you an excellent view of being a teacher and what you would like to do in teaching. Special Education is always a high demand teaching field. You can almost choose our School District, town, and/or state and get a job there as a SpEd teacher.

    1. I absolutely love my job, so becoming a SpEd teacher would be amazing! A dream come true. I have really learned a lot from the great collaboration teachers I work with.
